Allocation Procedure

Places are allocated according to the following criteria when there are more applicants than there are places available. However,  the council will admit all children with a Statement of Special Educational Needs or Individual Health Care Plan, in whose statement the school is named.

Admission Criteria

Within each category, priority will be given to first preferences ahead of second preferences and second preferences ahead of third preferences.

Priority 1: Children in Public Care (Looked After Children).

Priority 2: Children who are considered 'vulnerable' whose application is supported by the Assistant Director for Social Care.

Priority 3: Children who have a sibling attending the school at the time of admission as well as the application.

Priority 4: A child who suffers from some medical condition or disability, which makes it better for them to attend this school. Medical evidence must be provided with the application.

Priority 5: Distance from home to school.

When no place is offered, parents do have the right to appeal under Section 7 of the Education Act 1980. A leaflet explaining the procedure is available from Bolton Council, Pupil and Student Services at Paderborn House, Bolton. Telephone 01204 332143. Appeals must be made by completing the application form from Pupil and Student Services.
